Navrongo Nayagnia Suburb witnessed the launch of a community driven initiative “Clean Your Community” initiated by Bencyn Group CEO, Mr Benjamin Anyalah.
The project was launched in January 2025, aimed at combating plastic pollution through active community participation.
Residents including the elderly and young people did a thorough cleanup, collecting and burning plastic waste.
The initiative highlights the detrimental impact of plastics on the environment and promotes sustainable waste management practice.
Mr Benjamin emphasized the importance of collective action in maintaining a clean and healthy environment for future generations, thereby urging chiefs, assembly members, opinion leaders and all community stakeholders to join the campaign.
“We thank the assembly man who has been so instrumental in making the youths come out. Mr Joseph Komayire who is the youth chaplain of the Catholic Church, we thank them very much for their support. The chiefs, the tindanas, and assembly members came together and initiated it”. He said.
He also added that he will be calling on the paramount chief of the Navrongo Traditional, Pe Dennis Aneaknoa Baunia Adda (Asagipari II) to fix a day in every month for his subjects to clean their environment.
“We hope to converge at the Chief palace and send a message to him, telling him about the menace of plastics and rubbers in the community”, he stated.
The “Clean Your Community” Project seeks to foster a culture of environmental responsibility and inspire similar initiatives across the region.
