FBRA Joins GIZ, Others To Promote Sustainable Business Models Across Nigeria

The Food and Beverage Recycling Alliance (FBRA) has thrown its weight behind the State Circularity Showcase, an initiative designed to promote innovative circular economy products, practices and sustainable business models across Nigeria.

The initiative, tagged “Promoting Circular Economy Products, Practices & Models,” is implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) under German Cooperation, with support from FBRA and other partners.

Announcing its support for the initiative, FBRA said the showcase would provide a platform for businesses developing innovative circular solutions to spotlight their products, practices and business models while contributing to a more sustainable future.

The initiative is particularly seeking businesses with unique circular products, models or services that demonstrate positive environmental impact, reduce waste and help lower carbon emissions.

Women-led businesses are also being prioritised under the initiative, highlighting the growing role of female entrepreneurs in developing sustainable solutions and advancing Nigeria’s circular economy.

As part of the showcase, participating businesses will have the opportunity to present their circularity solutions, while also telling their stories through formats including videos, reels and photographs.

Businesses that qualify at the cluster level will subsequently be able to register for the State Circularity Event, where they can further showcase their solutions and engage with stakeholders within the circular economy ecosystem.

FBRA is participating in the initiative alongside GIZ, enpact, Ecobarter, Genius Hub and Jos Business Women Connect, among other stakeholders.

The initiative reflects growing efforts to encourage Nigerian businesses to move away from the traditional linear model of “take, make and dispose” towards systems that promote resource efficiency, reuse, recovery and waste reduction.

With the emphasis on women-led businesses, the State Circularity Showcase is also expected to create greater visibility for female entrepreneurs whose businesses are developing environmentally responsible products and services.
