Communication and Sustainability expert, Christianah Funbi has climbed higher on her professional ladder as British multinational alcoholic beverage giants, Diageo appoints her Sustainability and ESG Manager for West and Central Africa (WeCA).
In her new position, she is expected to contribute to Diageo’s comprehensive ESG action plan, tackling critical issues such as harmful alcohol use, water stress, climate change, social inequality, and biodiversity loss among other responsibilities.
Prior this appointment, she was communications and sustainability specialist for Guinness Nigeria Plc.
She formally served at Diageo as Communications Manager – Digital Transformation for Finance where she drove communications and employee engagement for the pre and post launch of CG Learning Academy in Diageo Financial Controllers’ Group (CG).
Her career journey started as a Quality Control Analyst at Lagos State Government as an intern where she was responsible for analyzing regulated products such as drugs, foods, cosmetics, medical devices to show that they contain the correct ingredients in the right proportions (Assay Analysis). She then moved to Ready SetWorkNG as Graduate Trainee.
At Guinness Nigeria, she held different position which include Quality Control Analyst, Shared Executive Assistant, Corporate Communications & Sustainability & Regulatory Affairs Officer.
She also served at Willco as Communications & Sustainability Specialist where she implemented and executed sustainability initiatives and projects to reduce the organization’s environmental impact, improve resource efficiency, and promote sustainability.
Christianah possesses a proven track record of delivering results that fulfill organizational goals and elicit commendation from superiors and peers with an efficient and organized professional of over 5yrs working experience in Corporate Affairs, Project Management, Executive and Administrative Management.

She is a Two-time Award winner of the Nestle West & Central Africa – Secondary & Tertiary Scholarship Award in the year 2008 and 2015 respectively. A recipient of Guinness Nigeria 2020 Employee Recognition Award for stepping up employee engagement during the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic when staff worked remotely.
In June 2023, she was honoured with the ‘Unsung Hero Yearly Award’ having joined Diageo Partner and Emerging Markets (PEM) in February 2023 on Secondment, as Comms & ESG Manager covering 32 countries across Africa.
Christianah holds a BSc in Industrial Chemistry from Caleb University Lagos as well as a Master of Business Administration in Sustainability from Nexford University.
