WAMASON To Hold Maiden Waste Summit In Lagos, April 17-19

The Waste Management Society of Lagos (WAMASON) has announced its maiden waste management summit ‘Eko Waste Summit’ aimed at exploring ways to tackle the pressing issue of waste management in Lagos state.

Themed, “Achieving Net-Zero Emissions Through Circular Economy, Innovation, Investment And Policy Implementation”, the three-day event is scheduled to be held at NECA House, Ikeja Lagos from April 17-19 2024.

The event which has about 55 seasoned speakers from different industries, will feature inspiring discussions, hands-on workshops, and actionable steps towards a world with less waste and more possibilities. The event will explore special topics for each of the three days.

For day 1, Friday 17 April, seasoned experts including Titilayo Oshodi, Special Adviser on Climate Change and Circular Economy to the Governor of Lagos State; Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA); Dr. Natalie Beinisch, Co-Founder at Circular Economy Innovation Partnership and Ambassador and Eugen Becker, Business Development Manager Eggermann Anlagenbau Gmbh will explore the topic “RoadMap To Economic Growth & Development a Sustainable Great Lagos”.

In day two, April 18, innovators and leaders including Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, General Manager LASEPA; Temitope Dasumu, Commercial Manager, Geocycle Nigeria (Lafarge Africa Plc); Hon. Lasisi Akinsanya, Chairman of Ikotun Igando LCDA; Ibukun Faluyi Executive Director EPRON and Lucia Agharese Executive Director FBRA will examine the topic “Circular Economy, Climate & Medical Waste” and explore lasting solutions.

Commenting on the event, Dr. Gbolahan Afeez Yusuf, Councilor, WAMASON Lagos Council, the Convener of the summit said, “We’re not just talking about change, we’re making it happen. Every action counts when it comes to protecting our planet. We’re excited to welcome experts, innovators, and leaders to tackle the pressing issue of waste management. The attendees will learn how individuals, businesses, and governments can work together to create a more sustainable future for all.”

The Governor of Lagos State, BabaJide Sanwo-Olu will be the Chief host, Dr. Iziaq Adehunle Salaho , Minister Of State On Environment ( Lagos) and Mallam Balarabe Abbas Lawal, Hon. Minister of Environment will be the honourable guest of the event. About 250 attendees are expected to be at the event. LAWMA, Lafarge Africa and 16 other organisations are partnering with the event.
