The Federal Government, in collaboration with the African Business Ventures and Investment Group (ABVIG) has reaffirmed its commitment to host the Africa Infrastructure and Climate Change Summit 2025 (AICIS) 2025, slated to hold from August 11-14 2025 at Nicon Luxury Hotel Abuja.
Sen. George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, at a press conference announced this at the Routunda Ministry of Foreign Affairs Abubakar Tafawa Balewa House Abuja, recently.
The SGF who was represented by the Permanent Secretary Political and Economic Affairs in the SGF office Engr. Nadungu Gagare said that the event is a landmark gathering that affirms Africa’s unified determination to address climate change through resilient infrastructure and strategic investment.
The summit is said to serve as a platform for transformative dialogue, actionable partnerships, and innovative investment strategies aimed at fostering climate resilience, sustainable infrastructure development, and green economic growth across Africa.
This event will feature a lineup of distinguished speakers like H.E. Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria; H.E. Senator George Akume, CON. Secretary to the Government of the Federation; Hon. Moses O.T Owharo, Chairman, Planning Committee; Prof Chinwe Obuaku, Global Consultant to Osun State Government on Climate Change and Renewable Energy; H.E. Amb Richard M. Mills, Jr., Ambassador of the United State of America to the Federal Republic of Nigeria; H.E. Amb. According to the organizers, the summit AICIS 2025 is a defining milestone for Africa’s climate and infrastructure future intended to reinforce stakeholder alignment with the Summit’s core pillars, Green Infrastructure, Climate Resilience, Gender Inclusion, and Bankable Investment Partnerships.
The participants expected at the event include: top government officials, development institutions, diplomats, civil society, development finance institutions, private investors, technical experts, civil society, the UN system and the diplomatic community, to forge actionable partnerships around Africa’s infrastructure transformation and climate adaptation imperatives and to brainstorm on the way forward for climate challenges facing Nigeria and the entire African continent.
This gathering is also an opportunity to echo the vision articulated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, at COP28 that Africa must not only participate in global climate discourse, but also lead with urgency, innovation, and collaboration.
Officially launched on August 30, 2024, at the prestigious Hawthorn Hotel, Abuja, AICIS 2025 witnessed the active participation of key stakeholders, including government ministries, agencies, the diplomatic community, civil society organizations (CSOs), non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and members of the media.
