Nestlé Nigeria Plc has announced the commencement of applications for its 2026/2027 Community Scholarship Programme, reaffirming its commitment to expanding access to education and supporting the academic aspirations of young people in its host communities.
The programme targets students in Science and Technology disciplines, providing financial assistance for tuition, textbooks, and other educational expenses. Through the initiative, Nestlé aims to equip young people with the knowledge and technical skills needed to contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s economic and social development.
Speaking on the initiative, Victoria Uwadoka, Corporate Communications, Public Affairs and Sustainability Lead at Nestlé Nigeria, said the scholarship programme reflects the company’s commitment to creating lasting value within its host communities.
“At Nestlé, we believe that stronger communities are built by creating opportunities for people to thrive. Through the Community Scholarship Programme, we are supporting young people with access to education while investing in the future potential of our host communities. By empowering students today, we are helping to develop the knowledge and skills that will contribute to Nigeria’s growth tomorrow,” she said.
Launched in 2020, the scholarship initiative has benefited more than 250 students, easing the financial burden of education while creating opportunities for academically talented young Nigerians to pursue their studies.
The programme has continued to record notable academic outcomes. According to the company, more than 70 per cent of beneficiaries whose progress has been tracked are either maintaining or have graduated with First Class honours, highlighting the positive impact of sustained educational support.
Applications are open to eligible students from Agbara, Sagamu, and Abaji.
For the tertiary education category, applicants must be newly admitted 100-level students studying science or technical courses and have scored at least 200 in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
For the secondary education category, applicants must be SS1 Science students who obtained a minimum of five credit passes in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
Nestlé encouraged qualified candidates to complete the application form accurately and submit all required documentation. The company noted that all applications will undergo a verification process involving relevant educational institutions, community unions, and community leaders to ensure a transparent and merit-based selection process.
Applications will close on August 28, 2026.
Speaking on the impact of the scholarship, Kazeem Fatai, a recent graduate of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), who earned a First Class Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, said the programme played a significant role in helping him achieve his academic goals.
“Receiving the Nestlé Community Scholarship was more than financial support; it was a vote of confidence in my future. Knowing that Nestlé continued to invest in my education year after year motivated me to stay committed to my goal of graduating with a First Class. Today, I am proud to have achieved that dream, and I hope my story inspires other young people to remain focused, work hard, and make the most of every opportunity they receive,” he said.
She added that the Community Scholarship Programme forms part of Nestlé for Good, the company’s broader shared value initiative focused on empowering individuals, strengthening communities, and contributing to a healthier and more sustainable future through education, skills development, nutrition education, and youth empowerment.
