Lafarge Africa Plc has announced the launch of a heavy goods Electric Vehicle (EV) truck into its supply fleet, to enhance environmental sustainability.
According to the company, the introduction of the electric truck in partnership with Tolaram underscores Lafarge Africa’s unwavering commitment to sustainable practices and innovative solutions for a greener future.
Lolu Alade-Akinyemi, while speaking at the launch of the EV Truck at the Ewekoro factory last Monday said, “Today, as we gather here, we mark yet another significant milestone in our sustainability journey. We are proud to announce the launch of the first-ever heavy goods Electric Vehicle (EV) truck in Nigeria, an achievement that highlights our commitment to innovation and solidifies our position as pioneers in pursuing environmentally responsible practices within our industry.”
Alade-Akinyemi, GMD/CEO of Lafarge Africa Plc, said the building solutions company has achieved notable milestones in its accelerating green mobility journey.
In his words, “Our journey towards a more sustainable future began years ago with a vision to integrate environmentally friendly practices into every aspect of our operations. This vision has guided us through a series of significant milestones that have reshaped the landscape of our supply chain.”
Speaking on Lafarge’s commitment to a sustainable supply chain, Alade-Akinyemi stated that the introduction of the EV truck marks a significant shift towards a cleaner, more efficient, and sustainable supply chain. He added that this strategic move benefits the environment and holds immense promise for all stakeholders.
In his comment, Osaze Aghatise, the Logistics Director of Lafarge Africa Plc said “The introduction of the EV Truck signifies an important achievement in our logistics strategy, signalling our transition to more eco-friendly and sustainable transportation practices. While commenting on the milestone of the company, Saeed Ande, Procurement Director at Lafarge Africa Plc said, “For us, sustainability is a way of life.
