FirstBank To Host Agric, Export Expo To Help Nigerian Agribusinesses Access Global Markets

FirstBank of Nigeria Limited is set to host the fifth edition of its Agric and Export Expo on September 16 and 17, 2026, with stakeholders expected to explore ways to help Nigerian agribusinesses expand into global markets and strengthen the country’s agricultural export value chain.

The two-day event, themed “From Farm to Global Markets: Building Nigeria’s Export Value Chain,” will hold at the Eko Convention Centre, Lagos, bringing together policymakers, regulators, agribusiness leaders, exporters, investors, development partners and other stakeholders in the agriculture and export sectors.

The expo is expected to examine the challenges and opportunities affecting Nigeria’s agricultural exports, including access to finance, market opportunities, technology, productivity and policies needed to improve the competitiveness of locally produced agricultural goods.

The Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, is expected to deliver the keynote address and lead discussions on improving agricultural productivity and strengthening Nigeria’s food systems.

Governors Mohammed Umar Bago of Niger State, Monday Okpebholo of Edo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State, Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State and Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State are expected to attend as special guests.

The event will also feature industry leaders including Olasunkanmi Owoyemi, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Sunbeth Global Concepts Limited; Taiwo Ayoade, Deputy Managing Director of Agro Traders Limited and Plantation Industries Limited; Sunil Kumar Chauhan, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Dangote Fertiliser Limited; and Ayodele Abioye, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of BUA Foods Plc.

Discussions at the expo will focus on emerging trends and market opportunities that could help Nigerian agricultural businesses increase production, improve product quality and access international markets.

Financing is also expected to be a key area of discussion, as access to affordable capital remains important for businesses seeking to increase production capacity, meet export standards and expand their operations.

The conference will further examine technology-driven innovations and policy measures that can strengthen the agricultural and non-oil export sectors, while improving linkages between farmers, processors, exporters, investors and other participants across the value chain.

For small and growing agribusinesses, stronger connections across the value chain could provide opportunities to access new markets, investment, technical knowledge and financing needed to move beyond local sales and participate more effectively in international trade.

The expo forms part of efforts to promote a stronger export-oriented agricultural sector and identify practical measures for moving Nigerian agricultural products from production through processing and into global markets.
