The Federal Government, last Thursday, inaugurated the upgrade of the Buruku/Gboko Water Supply Project at the Gboko Water Treatment Plant at Ameladu, Benue State, valued at N18.9bn.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Mr Tinubu, represented by the minister for water resources and sanitation, Joseph Utsev, said the project aligned with his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
“The Rehabilitation and Upgrade of Buruku/Gboko Water Supply Scheme in Benue State is a clear
demonstration of the government’s commitment to improving the lives of its citizens and providing them with the necessities of life in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda”, he said.
He also said that the Federal Government’s intervention in the rehabilitation and upgrading of water supply is meant to accelerate access to clean and potable water in the country towards meeting national and internationally set targets.
“It is meant to further job creation, stimulate economic growth, and improve the overall quality of life for our citizens,” the minister said.
He further stated that the project was made possible through the approval of the Federal Executive Council under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu.
The minister asserted that the project would improve the lives of 506,000 Benue residents by improving their access to potable water, thereby reducing the risk of water-borne diseases.
He urged the contractor to work towards delivering the project effectively and timely to achieve the value for the efforts, time and money committed to this project.
The Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, who was represented by his deputy, Sam Ode, said the resuscitation of the project, which had been abandoned for decades, was a demonstration of President Tinubu’s commitment to improving the well-being of Nigerians.
