Environmental & Social Impact Manager, Oluwaseun Agbebi has joined Babban Gona as its Environmental, Social and Governance, ESG, Manager.
As the ESG lead, Agbebi will manage and oversees the overall implementation of the company’s Environmental & Social Management System (ESMS), Environmental & Social Management Plan (ESMP), and Environmental & Social Action Plans (ESAP) in accordance with investors, lenders and development partners’ requirements and international best practices, among others.
Taking to his Linkedln handle to make the announcement, he said, “I’m happy to share that I started a new position as Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Manager at Babban Gona 2months ago.
“The amazing journey of managing investors, lenders, development partners and stakeholders’ demands/expectations on ESG implementation, E&S compliance, and impact reporting for the organization begins.
“As always, my simple plan on ESG strategies implementation and integration into business culture & strategy is “Don’t create problems while solving for other problems. Keep it simple and impactful,” he wrote.
Prior to joining Babban Gona, Agbebi was the Sustainability and ESG Manager – Sugar Division/Value Chain (Golden Sugar Company) at Flour Mills of Nigeria. At FMN, the Pioneer Sustainability & ESG Manager was responsible for the overall development and implementation of sustainability, social performance & environmental management strategies for FMN’s Sugar Division/Value Chain (Golden Sugar Company) – a 750,000 tons per annum Sugar Refinery (Apapa, Lagos State); 17,000 hectares irrigable farmland/estate with 3,500-hectare sugarcane plantation and 100,000 tons per annum Sugar Mill (Sunti, Niger State).
Other places he has worked include Dangote Industries Limited as the Group Sustainability Specialist and Environmental Resources Managers Limited as its Environmental Specialist and Laboratory Manager.
He holds a Bachelor’s Degree, Biochemistry from the Federal University of Technology Akure and proceeded to the University of Derby for a Masters of Science (M.Sc.), in Sustainability and Environmental Management.
