The Katsina State Government has announced that it will do everything to ensure a clean environment, including the introduction of compulsory monthly sanitation.
The state Commissioner for Environment, Musa Funtua, disclosed this on Wednesday during an interaction with journalists.
According to him, the state intended to increase the annual budgetary allocation to the Ministry of Environment to ensure a healthy environment across the state.
Funtua said, “What we are doing now is laying solid foundation. We are getting our human and material resources ready and prepared for our task. We are not even ruling out the reintroduction of monthly environmental sanitation to ensure the cleanliness of our environment.
“His Excellency, Mallam Dikko Radda, is also giving us all the needed assistance and guidance to ensure that we have a clean environment, have fewer erosion challenges and that our environment provides a healthy living for all.
“Every one of us in the state is a stakeholder on environmental issues. The Ministry of Environment has a major duty to promote healthy living in the state and to make our environment conducive for business and attract investors to the state.”
