Corporate Communications expert, Sylva Nze Ifedigbo has  been elevated to the position of Director, Corporate Communications, Nigeria for IHS Towers, one of the world’s largest independent telecommunications infrastructure companies.
Ifedigbo’s new position places him at the helm of the media and communications strategy for the company’s biggest market on the African continent, and one of the biggest in the world.
The appointment comes at a particularly consequential moment for IHS Towers and its Nigerian operations. In February 2026, MTN Group announced a proposed acquisition of IHS Towers’ remaining 75% stake in the company, valuing the group at around $6.2 billion, a deal that has since drawn investor and public scrutiny. In this environment, leadership of the Corporate Communications function in Nigeria takes on heightened strategic importance.
Nigeria is IHS Towers’ largest market, where the company manages over 16,000 sites, operating from a head office in Lagos with regional offices in Abuja, Ibadan, Enugu, Asaba, Kano and Port Harcourt.
Ifedigbo brings to the role an uncommon combination of corporate communications expertise, professional credentials, and acclaimed literary achievement. He holds an MBA and is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (MCIPR) and an Associate of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (ANIPR).
Before joining IHS Towers, Ifedigbo built a distinguished career at PwC Nigeria, where he was recognised for making a remarkable difference to the firm’s communications and thought leadership strategy and exceeding expectations in many respects, and was also one of 50 winners selected by staff and firm leadership in Africa for exceptional exhibition of the firm’s core values.
Beyond his corporate career, Ifedigbo is a celebrated individual in Nigerian literature. He is a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, a writer, and a corporate communications professional, and is an award-winning essayist and author. With the arrival of his debut collection of twenty short stories, ‘The Funeral Did Not End’, in 2012, Ifedigbo carved his niche in the literary scene as an artist with those gestures of a prophet.
He has won recognition for his novel Believers and Hustlers, which earned him the award presented to the best novel by a Nigerian in a calendar year.
His pivot from veterinary medicine to communications and literature is well-documented. As he stated in an earlier literary interview, he walked away from medicine not because he could not succeed, but because storytelling and communications were his true calling.
An indigene of Agulu in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State, Sylva Ifedigbo was born in Abuja and attended the School for the Gifted in Gwagwalada, Abuja, and the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, where he obtained a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree in 2007. He has since obtained professional training and certifications in Project Management, Creative Writing and Public Relations, and works in Corporate Communication.
