The Federal Government of Nigeria, through the National Council on Climate Change (NCCC) and Director-General Dr. Omotenioye Majekodunmi, has issued Nigeria’s first Letter of Authorisation under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement.
This move will allow BURN, Africa’s leading clean cooking company, to sell 5.2 million carbon credits to CORSIA, a global aviation scheme that lets airlines offset their carbon emissions by purchasing verified carbon credits.
This milestone strengthens Nigeria’s carbon market under the Nigeria Carbon Market Activation Policy (NCMAP), expands clean cooking access, reduces emissions and deforestation, and supports local manufacturing in Kano.
However, it will support nationwide distribution of fuel-efficient stoves, reducing emissions, deforestation, and improving household health.
BURN will expand its Kano factory, scale local production, and make modern clean cooking technologies accessible to low-income households.
The company provides fuel-efficient stoves that cut emissions, improve health, and make modern cooking affordable for families.
