McDonald’s South Africa has appointed Millicent Maroga as Impact Director, effective April 1, as part of efforts to strengthen its community engagement and sustainability strategy.

The company said Maroga will lead its impact agenda, focusing on community development, environmental sustainability, inclusive employment opportunities and responsible food sourcing.

Maroga brings over two decades of experience in corporate affairs across the beverages and financial services sectors. Her previous roles include positions at South African Breweries, Old Mutual and HEINEKEN Beverages, where she served as Corporate Affairs Director.

She has also held board roles, including at the Gauteng Growth Development Agency, and currently serves as a trustee of the Old Mutual Employee Share Scheme.

Chief Executive Officer of McDonald’s South Africa, Max Oliva, said the appointment aligns with the company’s broader sustainability and growth objectives.

“Milly brings a strong combination of experience and purpose-driven leadership, alongside a deep understanding of the role business can play in society,” Oliva said.

He added that the company expects her leadership to strengthen its community impact initiatives and support delivery of its global growth framework, Accelerating the Arches.

Maroga’s appointment comes as companies across Africa increase focus on environmental, social and governance priorities, particularly around community impact, job creation and sustainable business practices.
