Chevron Nigeria has restated its commitment to protecting the environment and creating awareness and sustainability across the globe.
The statement was made during the celebration of World Environment Day annually held on June 5. The organization is committed to addressing the impact of plastic pollution as well as protecting the environment while providing affordable, reliable, and ever-cleaner energy.
World Environment Day was first held in 1974, led by the United Nations Environment Programme, with its goal to raise awareness and mobilize the world to take positive action and protect nature and the planet.
‘Solutions to Plastic Pollution’ was the theme of this year’s edition with the campaign slogan #BeatPlasticPollution.
CNL conducts its business in a socially and environmentally sustainable manner. It has also made environmental stewardship part of its social investment programmes.
“The company’s approach to sustainability was highlighted by its commitment to protecting the environment, empowering its people, and always getting results the right way”. Chairman and Managing Director, CNL, Rick Kennedy, stated.
“Environmental protection is a key operational excellence focus that is integrated into the project planning and life cycle of our assets. We implement a robust process for the management of wastes, including solid wastes like plastics of various densities through reduction, reuse, and recycling options”.
“We continue to assess and implement the reduction of single-use plastic water bottles by providing water dispensers. We have also invested in waste management equipment to shred, crush, and compact for recycling and reuse of waste by third-party service providers. These actions have prevented our used plastics from leaking into our immediate natural environment,” he added.
