Nigeria: Eko Disco Appoints Wola Joseph-Condotti Interim CEO As Power Sector Faces Mounting Sustainability Challenges

Eko Electricity Distribution Plc (Eko Disco) has appointed Wola Joseph-Condotti as its interim Chief Executive Officer, effective Tuesday, January 13, 2026, handing leadership of one of Nigeria’s most critical power utilities to a seasoned corporate lawyer and energy executive at a pivotal moment for the sector.

The appointment comes at a pivotal moment for Nigeria’s electricity sector, as distribution companies face intensifying pressure to stabilise supply, integrate cleaner energy sources and navigate an increasingly complex regulatory landscape in one of Africa’s busiest commercial corridors.

Joseph-Condotti brings deep institutional memory to the role. She currently serves as Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of West Power & Gas Limited, Eko Disco’s parent company, where she has been closely involved in shaping the utility’s governance framework and operational strategy. Her appointment is expected to provide continuity at a time when policy reforms, grid resilience and consumer confidence are under sharp scrutiny.

She previously served as Eko Disco’s pioneer Chief Legal and Company Secretary, a position that placed her at the centre of the company’s post-privatisation transition. Beyond legal oversight, her responsibilities expanded over time to include several senior management roles, ranging from regulatory compliance and human resources to customer service leadership and data protection. This breadth of experience has given her a granular understanding of the regulatory, workforce and service-delivery challenges facing electricity distributors—an operational lens that may shape her interim leadership.

Beyond Eko Disco, Joseph-Condotti is regarded as a prominent voice in Nigeria’s evolving energy landscape, particularly in discussions around renewable energy, sustainability, carbon markets and carbon credits. Under her leadership, West Power & Gas has built a diversified energy portfolio that spans conventional and renewable assets, reflecting an approach that seeks to balance short-term reliability with longer-term energy transition objectives.

Her academic and professional background bridges law, finance and corporate leadership. She holds a law degree from the University of Ibadan, a master’s degree in international finance law from Harvard Law School, and an MBA from INSEAD. She is also a certified board evaluation professional with the International Finance Corporation of the World Bank Group and an established corporate governance trainer, reinforcing her influence across both corporate and regulatory ecosystems.

Earlier in her career, Joseph-Condotti served as General Counsel and Company Secretary at Lagoon Home Savings and Loans and worked as a legal associate at Banwo & Ighodalo, one of Nigeria’s leading commercial law firms. Her contributions have been widely recognised within the legal and energy sectors. She was named among the Legal 500 GC Powerlist’s Top 100 General Counsels in Nigeria in both 2024 and 2025 and was honoured as INSEAD’s “INSEADer of the Month” in April 2024.

In 2025, she was listed among the Ascent Top 100 Career Women in Africa and featured in several rankings highlighting Africa’s most influential female leaders in law and energy. Most recently, she became the inaugural recipient of the Legal Era Leadership Excellence Award of the Year in 2025.

Joseph-Condotti also serves on multiple boards and advisory platforms, including as a founding member of the Women in Energy Network and as a member of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Public Affairs and Advocacy Committee, positioning her at the intersection of policy dialogue, private-sector leadership and the sustainability transition shaping Nigeria’s power sector.
