Morocco’s General Directorate of Meteorology has recently forecast a new weather alert, warning of intense heatwave along with thunderstorms in several provinces over the coming days.
The forecasting temperatures ranging between 40 and 44 degrees Celsius are predicted to take place from this Tuesday to Wednesday in several provinces like Taza, El Kelaa Sraghna, Ouezzane, Rehamna, Beni Mellal, Fez, Meknes, Moulay Yacoub, Khouribga, and Settat.
Similar weather conditions are expected in Chichaoua, Marrakech, Khemisset, Youssoufia, Taounate, and Taroudant.
Higher temperatures ranging between 44 and 47 degrees will affect the provinces of Tata, Assa-Zag, Es-Semara, Oued Ed-Dahab, Boujdour, and Aousserd from Tuesday to Friday.
As for thunderstorms, they will be accompanied by hail and strong winds today from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m., affecting the provinces of Tinghir, Beni Mellal, Fquih Ben Salah, Khenifra, Midelt, and Ouarzazate.
Taroudant, Khouirbga, Al Haouz, Chichaoua, El Kelaa Sraghna, and Azilal also expect the same weather, with rainfall projected to produce between 15 and 30 millimeters of rain.
Morocco’s weather office has been issuing several weather alerts in recent days, forecasting continuous heatwaves and unstable conditions, with thunderstorms causing floods in several regions.
Coastal residents have been recently enjoying breezy weather, with temperatures ranging between 26 and 30 degrees.
