United Nations Global Compact has announced the re-election of Naomi Nwokolo as Chairperson of Africa Regional Network Council (ARNC). Naomi is a renowned environmental, Social & Governance Professional.
The re-election which took place at the Annual Local Network Forum (ALNF) in Tokyo, Japan on the 18th of March 2024 was made known by the UN Global Compact Network Nigeria on its LinkedIn Page.
The Africa Regional Network Councils (RNCs) is part of the 5 Regional RNCs across the world established to provide Local Networks in the Africa Region the opportunity to discuss, collaborate and provide recommendations to the broader UN Global Compact in a systematic manner as well as share best practices and collaborate regionally. The Africa RNC is composed of all Executive Directors (ED) of Local Networks in the Africa region.
According to the Network, Naomi who was previously elected as Africa RNC Chair in 2022 will continue to serve on the Global Network Council (GNC) of the United Nations Global Compact for another two years.
Naomi is currently the Executive Director of UN Global Compact Nigeria where she leads over 140+ businesses in the development, design and education of responsible corporate practices and the SDGs.
She is an award winning international business leader with over 11 years of combined experience promoting human rights and environmental, social, and corporate governance on a global scale. She possesses the knowledge and experience in designing a business sustainability strategy and sees to its implementation.
Naomi is exceptional in engaging stakeholders, forging relationships with business and government leaders, and providing thought leadership on key legal and sustainable development issues.
She has shown successful professional leadership in creating and directing initiatives and programs to support local community education and application of gender equality, corporate governance, climate justice, and living wages.
Naomi was recognized as one of the Top 100 Environmental Practitioners in Nigeria in 2022 and listed as one of the Top 50 African Women in International Development in 2022.
